What We Do

NORA works with public and private partners to redevelop and revitalize New Orleans neighborhoods.

With significant bonding capacity and the power of expropriation, NORA enjoys the legislative authority to implement comprehensive neighborhood revitalization plans. Given our financial and legislative resources, as well as our neighborhood partnerships, we play a central role in the planning and execution of comprehensive community revitalization throughout New Orleans. Redevelopment includes a great many elements. NORA helps to ensure that each one is tailored to complement the unique character of our city and its neighborhoods.

Much of our single property redevelopment activity centers on the Lot Next Door Program, through which home owners may purchase adjacent NORA-controlled properties. We also facilitate neighborhood-initiated residential redevelopment and commercial corridor redevelopment through a number of other innovative programs and partnerships.
