The revitalization of New Orleans depends on strong partnerships with citizens, community groups, and government agencies. Below are just a few of the government agencies that share the same goal as NORA to make New Orleans shine.

HUD’s mission is to create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable homes for all. HUD is working to strengthen the housing market to bolster the economy and protect consumers; meet the need for quality affordable rental homes; utilize housing as a platform for improving quality of life; build inclusive and sustainable communities free from discrimination; and transform the way HUD does business. HUD provides funding to New Orleans revitalization efforts in many ways including the recent generous NSP2 grant awarded to NORA and our associated 13 Community Consortium Partners.

The Finance Authority of New Orleans (FANO)

In addition to financing home mortgages, The Finance Authority of New Orleans provides tax-exempt bond financing for public facilities, facilities owned by non-profits, multi-family housing and all forms of community & economic development. The Finance Authority programs are authorized by the New Orleans City Council.

FHLBank Atlanta is a cooperative bank that offers competitively priced financing, community development grants, and other banking services to help member financial institutions make affordable home mortgages and provide economic development credit to neighborhoods and communities.
FHLB Atlanta has also recently announced that beginning August 24, 2011, they will offer two new home rehabilitation products that provide up to $15,000 per household for weatherization, energy efficient, safety, and accessibility improvements to owner-occupied homes. Orleans Parish Board of Assessors

The Orleans Parish Board of Assessors which is made up of seven assessors, is responsible for annually establishing fair market values for all properties, including residential, commercial, business and personal property records of approximately 166,000 real, and 11,000 business accounts. There website includes a searchable database to locate individual tax records. Using the database you may find property owners and verify homestead exemption.
