Commercial Revitalization is critical to rebuilding New Orleans neighborhoods. It facilitates opportunities for the redevelopment of commercial spaces, supports small business retention and growth, and makes the city more walkable.
NORA's Commercial Gap Financing Program provides funding for catalytic projects on key commercial corridors in the City. NORA has invested $11 million in key corridors, leveraging $10 in private investment for every $1 of NORA investment.
Façade RENEW, NORA's Commercial Business Development Grant Program supports the revitalization of select commercial corridors throughout the City. NORA is investing $1M for Façade Improvement Projects. By providing a 3:1 match in high-quality facade improvements, NORA aims to support the enhanced appearance of retail storefronts, eliminate economic blight and address non-confirming design standards.
NORA also provides grant funding for Placemaking Projects. Placemaking is a multi-faceted approach to the planning, design and management of public spaces. By investing in high-quality placemaking improvements NORA aims to support the transformation of underused public spaces into compelling, accessible and walkable destinations.
