The New Orleans Redevelopment Authority (NORA), in coordination with NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS), invites qualified development teams to submit qualifications for the redevelopment of the former Valena C. Jones School, located at 1901 N. Galvez Street in New Orleans.

The redevelopment of this historic property presents an opportunity to return a significant neighborhood asset to productive use while supporting community priorities and contributing to the continued revitalization of the surrounding area.

Through this solicitation, NORA and NOLA-PS seek a qualified development team with the experience, organizational capacity, financial capability, and demonstrated commitment necessary to deliver a feasible and community-responsive redevelopment of the property.

Community input received during the redevelopment planning process identified a range of potential uses and priorities for the site, including housing, education and childcare, workforce development, healthcare and social services, community-serving spaces, recreation and greenspace, sustainability and resiliency, arts and cultural uses, and opportunities that honor the history and legacy of the former school and surrounding community.

Respondents should review the full RFQ for detailed information regarding the property, redevelopment objectives, submission requirements, evaluation criteria, and applicable terms and conditions.

The deadline for receipt of questions is 4:00 pm (CDT) on October 7, 2026. Responses to questions and any addenda will be posted on the NORA website and made available to all prospective respondents.

All proposals must be uploaded to an assigned shared folder no later than TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. (CST). Respondents must submit a complete response in accordance with the submission requirements contained in the RFQ&P. All responses must be received by NORA on or before the submission deadline. Responses delivered after the deadline will not be considered.
